Ukrainian processors are being urged to meet stricter quality standards to access international markets, particularly Europe, as depicted at the New Food Summit by the country's Deputy Minister of Economy, Taras Kachka. Kachka stressed the importance of product standardization and strategic planning, especially for high-value goods like confectionery, juices, and flour. He pointed out that quality issues, not product quality, are the reason for importing certain goods like butter. Kachka debunked the myth that banning exports of raw materials would boost domestic processing and advocated for quality improvement and standardization as the key to market growth. The simplification of the customs regime with the EU has provided Ukrainian processors with more export opportunities, although they still must adhere to EU labeling, packaging, and quality standards.
