Ulju-gun, a city in Ulsan, South Korea, has secured an export contract worth $1.5 million to supply over 400 tons of Ulsan pears annually to three U.S. import buyers. This initiative includes a promotion team, involving local officials and agricultural cooperatives, that visited Los Angeles and Hawaii to market Ulsan pears and understand local market dynamics. The team received orders for 120 tons and expanded exports to Hawaii, also agreeing on measures to improve pear brand packaging and target the local market to differentiate from Chinese pears. The city aims to support local pear farmers and expand overseas markets by marketing Ulsan pears globally.
