Deputy Director of the Russian Federal Fisheries Agency, Vasily Sokolov, attended the relevant meeting, where scientists attributed the decline in catch to changes in the population structure and migration route alterations caused by marine environmental conditions.
Despite the low catch, scientists believe that the sardine population remains robust.
Although no recent catches of sardines or Pacific mackerel have been recorded, scientists predict that these fish will migrate south and return to the relevant areas in autumn, following seasonal patterns.
