(Ulsan=Yonhap News) Reporter Jang Yeong-eun = Ulsan Ulju County is dispatching a promotional team to the United States to open up overseas markets for its representative agricultural product, the Ulsan pear.
Ulju County announced on the 22nd that from the 29th to November 6, a promotional team will be sent to the United States to promote the excellence of the Ulsan pear and conduct active marketing, including local tasting events.
The United States is the largest export market for the Ulsan pear. This year, the promotional team will visit two locations: Los Angeles and Hawaii.
Last year, Ulju County also dispatched a promotional team during the same period and locations to conduct Ulsan pear tasting, promotion, and marketing events.
At that time, County Mayor Lee Soon-geol, along with the Ulsan Horticultural Farmers Association, local agricultural cooperatives, aT Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, and exporting farmers, participated in promotional activities at various stores.
As a result, they achieved the signing of an export contract worth $1.5 million, supplying over 400 tons of Ulsan pears annually to three U.S. import buyers.
The county mayor said, "We will open up overseas markets and make the Ulsan pear known to the world."
Since 2002, Ulju County has been supporting overseas promotional events in the United States and Vietnam to help secure sales channels for local agricultural products.
