Togo has initiated its 2024-2025 soybean production campaign, aiming to further boost productivity through the mechanization of the industry. The launch, held in Guérin-Kouka, Dankpen prefecture, emphasized learning from past challenges and improving access to quality seeds, enhancing producers' technical capabilities, and expanding storage and processing infrastructure. The CIFS and the Ministry of Agriculture underscored the sector's importance in job creation, wealth generation, foreign currency earnings, food security, and industrialization. Since 2015, Togo has seen a significant increase in soybean production, from less than 25,000 tonnes to 260,000 tons in 2023, positioning itself as the European Union's largest soybean supplier.
