Tomatoes are getting cheaper in Ukraine

Ukrainian traders record a new wave of price reductions for imported tomatoes. A short-term, but noticeable increase in prices last week was one of the reasons for the sharp decrease in demand for Turkish tomatoes from buyers. As EastFruit analysts report, only single batches of local greenhouse vegetables went on sale last week, as most greenhouse farms in Ukraine have already completed the sales season. It is noted that at the same time the offer of imported tomatoes on the Ukrainian market continued to gradually increase, which became the main reason for the decrease in prices in this segment. So, greenhouse tomatoes went on sale at UAH 70-80/kg ($1.68-1.92/kg), which is on average 11% cheaper than a week earlier. "The main reason for the negative price trend in the segment of greenhouse tomatoes is the sharp decrease in demand for these products, as well as the quality of the vegetables offered," analysts note.
