The provisional entry into force of the agreement between the European Union and Mercosur, scheduled for 2026, inaugurates a new phase in Brazil's trade relations with one of the largest consumer markets in the world and may structurally alter the national agribusiness. After more than two decades of negotiations, the treaty expands access for Brazilian agricultural products to the European market, while at the same time raising the level of regulatory, environmental, and competitive requirements for producers and exporters.
