The inaugural Global Grape Convention in Santiago de Chile brought together the Association of Table Grape Producers of Peru (Provid) and the Table Grape Committee of the Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile AG (Asoex) to address issues and develop strategies within the global table grape market. Decofrut's agricultural engineer América Ramírez provided an overview of the industry's trends, highlighting a global increase in both production and demand, with particular challenges in hemispheres and markets. She noted that while southern hemisphere countries like South Africa, Peru, and Brazil have seen rising production, the United States and Chile have experienced declines. China's production growth has been remarkable, accounting for nearly half of the global production. Export and consumption patterns vary across regions, with the United States favoring white and red seedless varieties, and Europe dealing with market saturation and competition. Ramírez emphasized the need for producers to strategize and target specific consumer segments in response to these market dynamics.
