The China-Myanmar Monkey Bridge-Gambadi Border Trade Port, which had been closed for over five months, has resumed trial operation on December 17, with the export of Myanmar bananas to China. The port, located in Tengchong, Yunnan, China, and Kachin State, Myanmar, has been undergoing tests for standardized and scientific epidemic prevention and control procedures to allow the official commissioning of the port. In the meantime, the Central Bank of Myanmar has officially allowed the direct use of Renminbi and Kyat for trade settlement in the China-Myanmar border areas, enabling merchants and individuals to open Renminbi accounts to reduce exchange rate losses and stabilize trade.
