United States President Donald Trump strongly refuted criticism from American cattle ranchers and Republicans linked to the agricultural sector after stating that he is considering buying beef from Argentina to reduce food prices in the country. In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump claimed that the good moment for American cattle farming only exists thanks to the tariffs imposed by him. “The cattle ranchers, whom I love, do not understand that the only reason they are doing so well, for the first time in decades, is because I imposed tariffs on cattle entering the United States, including a 50% tariff on Brazil,” wrote the former president. “If it weren’t for me, they would be as they were in the last 20 years – terribly!” he added.
