The production of buffaloes, which revitalized vast wetland areas in the Argentine Northeast (NEA) by successfully adapting and making productive fields that previously yielded moderately with cattle, faces a challenge in the area of health. An inter-institutional team of researchers is advancing in the characterization of tuberculosis in buffaloes in the region, a legislated zoonotic disease that requires accurate diagnoses to protect both livestock productivity and public health. The project, which involves specialists from the National University of the Northeast (Unne), Inta Castelar, the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), and the private laboratory Agrofarma, is in its fourth year of execution, forming part of a line of research initiated in 2013.
