The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has released data for September 2024, revealing a slight decrease in chicken meat production by 0.1% from the previous month, totaling 214,116 tons. On the other hand, chicken egg production experienced a 1.1% increase to 1.828 billion eggs, with a significant 4.1% rise compared to September 2023.
The report also highlights a 10% increase in the number of slaughtered chickens and an 11.8% rise in chicken meat production year-on-year. Turkeys saw a notable 16.7% increase in meat production compared to September 2023. In the first nine months of the year, chicken egg production grew by 4.8%, chicken meat by 6.3%, and turkey meat by 17.1%.
Regarding the dairy sector, there was a 3.2% decrease in cow milk collection by commercial dairy enterprises in September 2024, amounting to 903,509 tons. Despite this, drinking milk production rose by 8.4% to 135,343 tons. There was also an increase in the production of various dairy products like cow's cheese, ayran, yogurt, drinking milk, and butter, with significant year-on-year growth observed in the January-September period.
