Vietnam's tuna exports are expected to hit $456.8 million in the first half of the year, marking a 20% increase from the previous year, largely due to higher shipments of canned, bagged, and frozen tuna. The US and EU remain the top markets, with exports to these regions rising by 30% and 37%, respectively. Despite becoming the world's fifth-largest tuna exporter in 2023, the industry faces challenges such as raw material shortages and regulatory issues. The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers is urging government support to address these challenges and enhance the digital monitoring system for fishing activities.
