Tunisia, pomegranate export travels increase by 4%

In September, exports of pomegranates started in Tunisia with volumes that are expected to increase by approximately 4.34% compared to 2020. According to a GIF official, Groupement interprofessionnel des fruits, 106,000 tons of pomegranates are expected to be harvested, 6% more than last season's 100,000. About 3,718 tons of pomegranates have already been exported - for a value of 7.7 million Tunisian dinars TND (2.7 million dollars) - and this year up to 8,000 tons should be exported, corresponding precisely to +4 , 34% compared to 2020. In GIF's opinion, new perspectives are opening up for the sector, in particular with the marketing of new varieties, the technical study underway to obtain an additional designation of origin and the various national and international promotion campaigns (Spain, France) .
