In 2020, Turkey's fisheries exports reached a record high of $1.53 billion, an 7% increase from the previous year, with sea bass bringing in $355.6 million, primarily to the Netherlands. Sea bream, the country's top export, brought in $311 million, mostly to Italy. So far in 2021, exports have seen a 12% increase to $100.8 million in January. There was also a 96% increase in Turkish salmon exports, reaching $56.8 million. Ufuk Atakan Demir, a board member of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters Association, is optimistic about the potential for further success in salmon exports.
