Turkey is a global leader in thyme production, accounting for 80% of the world's supply, and saw a 13% increase in exports in 2020 due to heightened demand for natural products. The majority of these exports originate from the Aegean region. The government is working with stakeholders to improve sustainable production and quality, and the industry is exploring diversification of thyme products. The economic value of thyme, a crucial ingredient in cuisines and with therapeutic properties, is being enhanced through training for farmers and efforts to improve product quality.
