Turkey welfare, DGSANTE report on the mission in Italy

The Directorate General for Health of the European Commission (DGSANTE) has published the final report of the mission conducted in Italy on the welfare of farmed turkeys, organized by the Ministry of Health with the support and coordination of Unaitalia. The report highlights the correct application of the European legal framework by Italy regarding the protection of turkey welfare and the rigorous protocols used and the high professionalism of the sector are recognised. The fact-finding mission of the European Commission was organized and coordinated by Unaitalia, which confirmed itself as a fundamental point of reference for the Italian poultry sector, not only for its representation of operators' interests, but also for its concrete commitment in promoting the animal welfare.
