In the first quarter of 2024, the Peruvian turmeric export sector saw a significant increase in both volume and value compared to the same period in 2023. There was an 81% increase in volume, reaching 847 tons, and a 102% increase in value, amounting to $1.6 million. The average price per kilogram also increased by 12%, from $1.7 to $1.9. Peruvian turmeric was exported to 21 destinations, two more than in 2023, with the Netherlands being the leading importer. The main Peruvian exporters included JCH Agroexportaciones S.A.C., Gavilan Organic S.A.C., Cooperativa Agraria Sangareni, Cooperativa Agraria Vancardbio Pichanaqui Ltda., and Agrícola Nuestra Tierra S.A.
