Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture and Food, Georgiy Takhov, has appealed to the European Commission to protect the Bulgarian market from excessive honey imports from Ukraine. He expressed concerns that the import of Ukrainian honey is threatening local production and making it difficult for Bulgarian beekeepers to compete. The volume of honey imports from Ukraine has increased by over 30% compared to the same period last year. The Romanian authorities have also supported this appeal, citing similar concerns. Both countries are waiting for the EC to take action to curb the flow of Ukrainian honey.
