The local agricultural authorities reported on the 8th that as of 5 PM that day, Typhoon "Dannas" had caused agricultural losses exceeding 14 billion New Taiwan dollars across Taiwan.
Among these, Chiayi County suffered the heaviest losses at 5.8 billion NTD, followed by Tainan City at 4.6 billion NTD, and Yunlin County at 2.7 billion NTD. Crop losses were primarily in pomelos, with production reduced by over half and losses approaching 3 billion NTD, followed by bananas, bamboo shoots, oranges, and ponkan.
According to reports, pomelos are currently in the medium to large fruit stage and were set to be harvested in one month. However, the typhoon caused massive fruit drop. Since the fruits were not yet mature, they cannot be processed. Tainan still has 30% of mangoes unharvested and experiencing significant fruit drop. Fruits in Tainan and Chiayi, such as avocados, Kaohsiung旗山 bananas, and guavas, were also damaged by the typhoon.
