The Ecological Agricultural Cooperative Caniari Amazónica (Caecam), located in the Alexander Von Humboldt district, Ucayali region, today concludes its second export of 100 tons of dry cocoa beans destined for Italy and the Netherlands. This commercial transaction will generate income of over S/3.4 million, consolidating an alternative development model that allows more families to distance themselves from drug trafficking. "We are driving actions that truly enable a sustainable activity to contain the advance of illicit crops that ultimately end up becoming drugs," said Devida's director, Carlos Figueroa. Since its founding in June 2023, Caecam has multiplied its number of members from 40 to 201, who cultivate 600 hectares of CCN51 clone cocoa.
