The Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) is seeking sh35 billion to install a coffee traceability system to comply with European Union regulations, a key requirement for coffee exportation to the EU. Additional funds are also being sought for promoting Uganda's coffee in China and the Middle East, and for constructing a coffee hub in Kyambogo. Despite some parliamentary opposition to these requests, Uganda's coffee exports to Asia increased to 88.5% in December, while exports to Africa slightly decreased. Europe remains the primary destination for Uganda's coffee, holding a 67% share of imports.
