In February 2024, Uganda saw a significant increase in coffee exports, earning $82.56 million from 434,582 bags of mostly Robusta coffee. Despite a decrease in quantity, the value of exports rose by 25.06% from the previous year, largely due to demand from European and African countries. The Uganda Coffee Development Authority has reported progress in coffee production through initiatives aimed at improving productivity, sustainability, and farmer capacity, although challenges such as pest infestations and disease outbreaks persist.
