The UK government recently hosted the Dairy Showcase, attended by over 40 international buyers and 60 UK businesses, with the aim of enhancing British dairy exports which reached £2 billion last year. The event was designed to promote the high standards of British farming and dairy production, focusing on products such as cheese, butter, yogurt, and milk powders. Delegates were given farm and processor tours in major dairying counties and participated in a 'Meet the Buyer' event and gala reception, leading to over 320 business meetings. The new Labour government has shown support for small dairy producers, promising to enhance their export capabilities and is exploring new trade agreements to provide access to more markets.
