Ukraine has seen a positive foreign trade balance for chilled and frozen pork, with exports exceeding imports by nearly $1.4 million over the past six months. The country's total pork imports this year have been 2.15 thousand tons, with a noticeable drop in the last fall, while exports have tripled from the previous year, reaching around 3 thousand tons. Analysts anticipate that the annual export volume could match the 2021 levels, around 3.8 thousand tons, if the trend continues. Despite the positive trade balance, domestic pig farmers are not experiencing significant profits, hindering the growth of this sector. Experts recommend that Ukraine aim to sustain its role as a net exporter in the long term.
