The United States, Argentina, Australia, Canada, and Ukraine have filed a counter notification to the World Trade Organization (WTO) against India's wheat and rice subsidy programs. The countries allege that India's subsidies exceed the WTO's limit of no more than 10% of the total value of crop production, and that they encourage overproduction and discourage the cultivation of other crops. This, in turn, results in large government wheat stocks that India sometimes dumps on international markets, causing market disruptions. This is the third time the US has made such a complaint against India's rice and wheat subsidies.
