Ukraine's Minister of Agrarian Policy, Mykola Solskyi, has appealed to the European Commission to lift a temporary ban on five Ukrainian agri-food products in five EU countries by June 5, arguing that the ban is causing difficulties for Ukraine's agricultural sector. The ban, which includes maize, wheat, rapeseed, sunflower oil, and sunflower seeds, was imposed to prevent the spread of pests and diseases, but Solskyi contends that it is creating obstacles for Ukrainian farmers to export grain. He also highlighted that the EU had imported rapeseed from Ukraine before the war and questioned the necessity of the restrictions during the conflict. The Ukrainian government is working to prevent the extension of this ban and is open to resolving the issue through dialogue, although the possibility of involving the World Trade Organization has not been ruled out.
