In the first quarter of 2020, Ukraine experienced a 10% decrease in fish exports, totaling 163.1 tons compared to 181 tons the previous year. The majority of these exports, 98%, were to Moldova, bringing in $183.9 thousand. Turkey was the largest buyer of fresh or chilled fish, purchasing 2 tons for $9.2 thousand, notably 1.9 tons of turbot. Other recipients included Liberia, Austria, Malta, Cyprus, Panama, St. Kitts and Nevis, the Seychelles, and the Marshall Islands. The exports primarily consisted of carp, totaling about 156 tons, and turbot, totaling 1.9 tons. Despite the decrease in fish exports, Ukraine saw a 25% increase in canned herring production, reaching 857 tons.
