In 2024, the trade deficit in dairy products grew to -$32.6 million, an increase of $1.4 million from the previous year. From January to August 2024, dairy exports rose by 8.3% to $137.3 million compared to the same period in 2023. However, exports of butter and milk fat dropped by 25% in volume, with only a 9% decrease in value due to higher prices. During the same period, import volumes increased by 7.6% to $170 million, resulting in imports exceeding exports by 24% despite the growth in exports.
