Ukraine lacks irrigation water for growing cotton

According to experts, the lack of irrigation water in the south of the country - in the hottest regions - prevents Ukraine from growing its own cotton. This is reported by UNIAN. Analysts note that Ukrainian soils are much better than in those countries where cotton is traditionally grown. The availability of field irrigation is even more important, because in this case the culture shows better yields. The Ukrainian South suffers without water and there is almost no irrigation there. Experts admit that the fact that cotton grew in the Ukrainian climate at all is already a historical achievement. Now begins the struggle for profitability in the conditions of a market economy. Despite the support of foreign agricultural companies, the main burden of growing new crops will fall on Ukrainian farmers, who are hardly helped by the state in this matter.
