Ukraine lacks rye: it will have to buy from Poland

According to experts, this year's rye harvest will not cover the needs of domestic production. This is reported by Ukrinform. Available reserves will only last until the beginning of 2026. Then, producers will have to purchase rye flour abroad. Analysts note that this year's rye harvest is significantly smaller than the volumes of domestic consumption. Already at the beginning of next year, the rye harvested by farmers will run out. After that, producers will have to purchase rye flour or rye grain abroad – particularly in the Baltic countries or Poland. Ukraine has already faced a similar situation this year in the spring. Some bakers did not have reserves and were forced to buy imported flour, but this year it will happen even faster because, unlike last year, there are almost no transitional reserves, and the harvest has decreased.
