Wholesale prices for potatoes in Ukraine are currently the highest in history, leading to the importation of large batches of potatoes from Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia to meet demand. This increase in prices is attributed to overproduction in 2022, a reduction in potato cultivation by the population, and unfavorable weather conditions, leading to a shortage of high-quality food potatoes in the Ukrainian market. With the import of potatoes, it is likely that prices will also increase in Poland, and there are prospects for renewed price records for potatoes in the spring of 2024.
