In the 2024/25 marketing year, Ukraine experienced a boost in wheat and barley exports due to the early harvest and the operational deep-water ports. Wheat exports to Asian markets like Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand saw an increase, and barley exports surged to 1.05 million metric tons, twice the amount of the previous year. China's return as a buyer of Ukrainian barley contributed to this growth, despite a temporary decrease in demand. However, global price trends, including the smallest wheat harvest in France in 20 years and the expected depletion of wheat stocks in Russia and Ukraine, led to a rise in wheat and barley prices.
