Beekeepers in Ukraine have collected at best 20% of the honey they were counting on, said Nazariy Bilko, a beekeeper and assistant at the Department of Apiculture at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, to the national public broadcaster "Ukrainian Radio." According to him, the situation is bad from the perspective of beekeepers' income, but prices are rising and somewhat compensate for the losses. "This year, almost all sunflower honey is going for export. This reduces the supply on the retail market, which is why prices are rising," he explained. Bilko pointed out that linden honey is currently selling for 500-600 hryvnias (12.06-14.48 dollars at the current exchange rate) per liter, and in some cases, the price reaches 700 hryvnias (16.89 dollars).
