Oleksandr Hajdu, chairman of the Ukrainian parliament's Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy, has highlighted the need for the hop industry's development after a round table discussion on implementing EU requirements. He pointed out that Ukraine only contributes 20% to the hop needs of brewing companies due to a significant reduction in hop cultivation areas, with the rest being imported. Last year, Ukraine harvested only 460 tons of hops with an average yield of 13 tons per hectare, indicating the industry's need for support and stimulation for domestic hop usage in production.
