Ukrainian vine growers are not advised to purchase planting material from Hungary: it may be affected by phytoplasma.

In Hungary, grapevine phytoplasma has already affected most wine-growing regions, and now Transcarpathia is under threat. The disease is spreading rapidly and can destroy entire vineyards. This is reported by "Mukachevo.net." According to Agroinform.hu, 15 out of 22 wine-growing regions in Hungary are already suffering from the infection carried by the American grapevine cicadas. The vines are yellowing, wilting, and eventually dying. "By 2025, most of the vineyards in the settlement have declined. From next year, we will have no vines left; we will have to uproot everything," said Dorottya Bussay from Bussay Winery, which has lost almost all its plantings. Hungarian vine growers emphasize that this is not just a plant problem, but a crisis that can destroy the economy of rural regions.
