The Ukrainian fishing industry has suffered losses of UAH 9.8 billion due to the destruction of the Kakhovskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) by Russian forces, says Ihor Klymenok, acting head of the State Agency of Ukraine for the Development of Reclamation, Fisheries and Food Programs. The Kakhov reservoir, which powered Europe's largest irrigation system, supplied water to an area of 584,000 hectares through 26 irrigation systems. Two state fish hatcheries on this reservoir are now at risk. The damage to land reclamation is estimated to be in the tens of billions of hryvnias.
