In a virtual meeting held this Thursday, November 14, authorities from the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP) and representatives of the Turkish government analyzed the situation of the vessel Spiridon II, which has a cargo of animals whose unloading has been delayed. The exchange took place in a framework of "total transparency and spirit of cooperation," according to official sources. During the meeting, Uruguay reiterated its concern about the extensive time the animals have been on board and emphasized the need to find an urgent solution. Both countries recalled their status as members of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and agreed that the principles of animal welfare are a shared obligation.
