Uruguay is one of the emerging hubs for advanced technological innovation in the region, with a marked specialization in health and biosciences, according to the report “Deep Tech Radar Latam 2025,” prepared by the Brazilian consultancy Emerge in alliance with Cubo Itaú. Deep techs are startups based on cutting-edge science and technology that are characterized by having a solid scientific-technological base, a transformative impact on strategic sectors, intellectual protection, and a high potential for maturation that aims at disruptive innovation. These types of companies work in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, robotics, nanotechnology, sensors, blockchain, and quantum technologies, with applications in various areas such as health, agriculture, energy, industry, and defense, among others.
