Uruguay's Animal Health Division has started delivering 468,000 doses of Avian Influenza vaccine to accredited veterinarians for laying hens and breeders, with a total of 900,000 doses expected for incubators in the first installment. The vaccines, supplied from the United States, will be distributed in 225 vials kept in liquid nitrogen thermoses at -195°C. The distribution for adult animals in Mexico will begin next week. The vaccination campaign aims to improve biosafety conditions and the undersecretary has confirmed that the vaccine does not pose any consumption risks for meat and derivatives.
