In the third week of August, cattle and sheep prices experienced a slight increase, report the Livestock Consigners Association (ACG) of Brazil. Cattle prices rose by more than four dollars, with fatted, export, special, and live steer priced at US$ 2.20, and beef at US$ 4.05. Sheep prices also increased across the board, with lambs at US$ 4.02 and sheep at US$ 4.01. Despite this, cattle slaughter numbers fell by 12,868 to 34,461, while sheep numbers rose by 1,926 to 13,973. The market remains firm due to high demand and limited supply for replacement animals.
