The National Agricultural Research Institute (Inia) achieved a record pregnancy percentage of 84.1% in its classic Diagnostic Evaluation Workshop, reflecting a favorable climate for breeding. This rate includes cows that were previously declared as wintering cows, which were brought back into the herd due to limited pasture availability. Inia's coordinator, Eng. Esteban Montes, cautions that the 84.1% pregnancy rate may slightly overestimate the average for the country but anticipates a total of 3.2 million calves born, with a pregnancy rate of 74-75% for the cows that were impregnated.
