Uruguay's exports of live cattle have seen a significant decrease of 65.9% from January to November of this year, with the majority of the exports, 61.3%, being shipped to China, followed by Egypt, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Iraq. The best-selling breeds were Hereford, Angus, and Holstein cattle, with most of the exports being young cow and bulls primarily used for breeding. The chairman of the Live Livestock Exporters Union, Rodrigo González, anticipates a potential market improvement in the second quarter of next year, with the possibility of opening new markets in Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia and Vietnam, but China remains the largest market due to the profitable prices offered for live cattle breeding.
