The American Peanut Council led a trade delegation to Japan in November to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, importers, and trade officials. The removal of a 10% duty on U.S. peanut imports has given American peanut producers a competitive advantage in the Japanese market, which is the fifth largest market for U.S. peanut exports. The delegation also visited a peanut farm and met with representatives from the Agriculture Department and leading Japanese retailers to further develop relationships and explore opportunities for increased peanut consumption in Japan.
