Corn sales to foreign buyers soared and soybean sales reached their highest level of the marketing year in the seven days ending Oct. 19, data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) shows. Corn export sales totaled 1.35 million tons, an increase of 53% from the previous week and 22% from the average of the previous four weeks, the agency said in a report. Mexico was the biggest buyer with 762.4 thousand tons, followed by Colombia with 241.9 thousand tons and Japan with 149.4 thousand tons. An unidentified country took 97,100 tonnes and Costa Rica purchased 64,300 tonnes of US corn.
