The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced an upcoming referendum for California almond growers to vote on the continuance of their federal marketing order, with the vote taking place between Dec. 4-20, 2024. Eligible growers must have produced almonds during the specific period leading up to the referendum. The marketing order could potentially be terminated if a majority of growers or the majority of almond volume do not vote in favor of its continuance. The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) will distribute ballots and provide an option for electronic voting.
