The global rice production forecast for the 2022/23 crop year is expected to be the lowest since 2019/20, with a decrease in production forecast for Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, the European Union, and Vietnam, despite increases in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Uzbekistan. The global rice supply is also at its lowest since 2019/20, marking the first decrease since 2004/05. The consumption forecast is also up, but still below the previous year's record, and global rice trade is projected to decrease for the first time since 2019. Additionally, the forecast for world rice stocks at the end of the 2022/23 crop year is down, with Brazil, China, and India accounting for most of the forecast reduction.
