Thailand's Office of Agricultural Economics has predicted an increase in oil palm production and output in 2023, leading to a surplus of crude palm oil. The country's crude palm oil production is expected to rise by 4.36% to 19.892 million tons, and the cultivation area is expected to grow by 1.66% to 6.252 million rai. However, the global price of oilseed, including palm oil, is anticipated to decrease in the second half of the year. To address the surplus and prevent it from impacting farmers, the Thai Cabinet has approved a project to boost palm oil exports and reduce excess production by 150,000 tons. This project will also support management expenses at a rate of 2.00 baht per kilogram, with a minimum crude palm oil stock level of 250,000 tons.
