Uzbekistan has received approval to export lemons to China, following a agreement between the country's Quarantine and Plant Protection Bureau and China's General Administration of Customs. The agreement adheres to international conventions and China's food safety regulations. Currently, Uzbekistan exports a variety of fruits and vegetables to around 60 countries, primarily to Russia. Since 2017, Uzbekistan has been working to increase agricultural exports to China, which currently include cherries, melons, pomegranates, and 11 other agricultural products. Negotiations are underway to also include grapes, plums, peaches, and persimmons. In 2020, Uzbekistan's fruit and vegetable exports amounted to 1.48 million tons, valued at $1.01 billion.
