Ural crop varieties are being cultivated across 58 regions of Russia, covering over 1.8 million hectares, with the Sverdlovsk region accounting for more than half of these grain fields. Since the start of the 21st century, Russia's agro-industrial complex has transitioned from import dependence to self-sufficiency, becoming a net exporter and nearly doubling its agricultural production. The future focus lies in the development of selection, genetics, and biotechnology. On the Day of Russian Science, scientists Nikita Zezin and Irina Shkuratova were recognized with the '300th Anniversary' medals of the Russian Academy of Sciences for their contributions to domestic science.
